New Connection Prague Main Railway Station, Masarykovo Nádraží - Libeň, Vysočany, Holešovice

The purpose of works was to increase the operational speed to 80 km/h and increase the capacity of railway lines leading to the Prague’s main railway station. The length of the section is 4.6km. The key structures of this project are two double-track tunnels (1.329m and 1.372m long) heading longitudinally through Vítkov hill.

Subterra a.s. was involved in the construction of these tunnels. The tunnels were mostly bored and the New Austrian Tunnelling Method was used. Only short sections near the tunnel portals were excavated. The excavated profile ranges from 97m2 to 110m2.  An integral part of the tunnel construction was a geomonitoring. The geological conditions were very complicated.
